David WestClinical Psychologist
BA (Hons) MPsych I have been working as a clinical psychologist since 1987, in a range of settings including Community and Inpatient Mental Health services, Community and Inpatient Rehabilitation Drug & Alcohol services, General Hospitals, and private practice. Prior to qualifying as a clinical psychologist I worked as a youth worker with homeless youth on the streets of Kings Cross.
At Merimbula Psychology I provide individual psychotherapy for adults with a range of issues including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative-identity disorder and addiction. I also work with people who are having difficulties adjusting to major life changes, and those with chronic physical illnesses where the illness is having a significant psychological impact. I primarily work within a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) framework, but also occasionally use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy when working with trauma-related conditions. I am a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. I am available for appointments 4 days per week, excluding Wednesdays. |
